Frequently Asked Questions

Real answers to the questions parents, seniors, coaches, and athletic directors actually ask TriStar Visuals Photography about senior portraits and sports photography across Chattanooga, North Georgia, and East Tennessee.

Senior Photography FAQs

How much do senior pictures cost in Chattanooga?

A TriStar Visuals Photography senior session starts with a $325 session fee, which books your date and covers the full shoot. From there, you're not locked into one path. At your private reveal session, you can choose a set collection, like The Highlight at $750 all-in (15 images plus 4 gift prints), or step up to The Moment, The Edge, or The Icon, or build your own custom collection from our à la carte menu of albums, wall art, and prints. No minimum purchase. You only buy what you love.

When should I schedule my senior pictures, junior year or senior year?

Most TriStar Visuals Photography seniors book in the summer before senior year or early fall, which leaves plenty of time before yearbook deadlines (usually November or December, depending on your school) without competing against college applications and a packed senior year schedule. On-location sessions are typically shot in the late afternoon or evening, and studio sessions can be scheduled any time of day, since TSV isn't relying only on natural light.

What is the best time of year for senior pictures in Chattanooga?

Because TSV's dramatic, lighting-driven approach isn't dependent on golden hour or a specific season, sessions can be booked essentially any time of year. Early fall is popular in Chattanooga for the added backdrop of changing leaves at spots like Coolidge Park, the North Shore, and downtown. If your school has an earlier yearbook deadline, booking in summer keeps you ahead of it.

What should my senior wear for their photos?

Wardrobe isn't something you have to figure out alone. Every TriStar Visuals Photography senior session includes a consultation beforehand, where Marshall works with you and your family to plan wardrobe, location, and posing around what actually tells your story, whether that's game-day gear, a theatre costume, or your go-to fit. As a general rule: bring a couple of outfit options that feel like you, skip busy patterns or big logos that pull focus, and lean into the pieces connected to what makes you you.

How many outfit changes are included in a senior session?

There's no set limit. It's really up to you how many outfits you bring, though the more changes you make, the more time goes to changing clothes instead of creating photos. Marshall generally recommends at least three: something casual, something a little more formal, and something that tells your story, whether that's a game-day jersey, a theatre costume, or whatever else is straight out of your story.

Where are the best locations for senior pictures in Chattanooga and North Georgia?

Location isn't about finding the prettiest backdrop, it's about finding the one that's actually yours. Anyone can shoot a pretty photo in a field of sunflowers. TriStar Visuals Photography builds your session around locations that tell your story, whether that's the field where you play, the stage where you perform, downtown Chattanooga, or somewhere across North Georgia that means something to you. And if a flowery field genuinely is your thing, we'll shoot that too.

Can senior portraits include sports or action shots?

Absolutely, and it's one of the things that sets TriStar Visuals Photography apart. Marshall works at the intersection of senior portraits and sports photography, so if athletics are part of your story, your session can include action shots, uniform portraits, or recruiting and scholarship media right alongside your traditional senior images. And if you're not an athlete, we've got that covered too, your session is built around whatever makes you you, whether that's the stage, the lab, or something else entirely.

What's the difference between a budget photographer and a full-service senior photographer?

A budget, "shoot and burn" photographer typically hands you a batch of files and a goodbye. A full-service experience, like the one TriStar Visuals Photography provides, includes a pre-shoot consultation to plan your look, professional lighting instead of hoping the sky cooperates, real editing and retouching, and a private reveal session where you build your own collection instead of scrolling through a folder alone. One's a transaction. The other's an experience.

Can family or friends attend the senior session?

Absolutely. Family and friends are welcome at your senior session, and we can even work them into a few shots along with you. Have a favorite pet? Bring them along too, we love including them in the mix. That said, if having an audience while you're in front of the camera isn't your thing, it's worth keeping your guest list a little tighter. A relaxed, comfortable senior makes for better photos every time.

What happens if it rains on my scheduled session day?

If rain, extreme heat, or extreme cold doesn't fit the shoot we planned, we'll reschedule for a date that works for both of us. You won't be pushed through a session that isn't going to match your vision just to keep a date on the calendar.

Do you photograph seniors outside Chattanooga, East Tennessee, and North Georgia?

Yes. While TriStar Visuals Photography is based in the Chattanooga and North Georgia area, Marshall is available to travel wherever your vision takes us, whether that's the beach, a family property out of state, or even somewhere like Rome. Got a location in mind outside the local area? Let's talk about it.

How far in advance should I book my senior's session?

There's no single answer, it depends on your school's yearbook deadline (typically in the fall) and what kind of look you're after, whether that's fall foliage or spring blooms. What's consistent: the calendar at TriStar Visuals Photography books up fast, especially prime weekend dates, so once you know your schedule, the earlier you book, the better your chances of landing the date and season you want.

Sports Photography FAQs

How much does a team sports photographer cost in Chattanooga?

Sports and team photography with TriStar Visuals Photography is always custom-quoted. Pricing depends on the size of your team or program, what needs covering (individual portraits, action shots, media day, a full season), and how many teams are involved. We also work with different ways to fund a shoot, whether that's the team or program covering the cost, parents paying individually, or a mix of both. Reach out with the details and you'll get a quote built around your program, not a generic price list.

Do you offer team banners, individual banners, and other products?

Yes. TriStar Visuals Photography offers team banners, individual player banners, and just about any other printed product your team or players need, customized with your photography, team logos, and colors.

What sports and teams does TriStar Visuals photograph?

Just about all of them. TriStar Visuals Photography works with youth and rec leagues, travel and club teams, and middle school and high school programs, plus college-level work with Mercer University and Dalton State College, and coverage of NCAA national championship tournaments. Current and past partners include Chattanooga Christian School, Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts, Dalton High School, and The Dalton Academy, across every sport those programs offer.

How soon after game day will we receive our photos?

Turnaround depends on the shoot. Game-day action photos are typically ready within 24 hours. Team and individual portraits from picture day take about three weeks to turn around, since those go through a full edit and retouch process before delivery.

Do you photograph youth and rec league teams, or only high school programs?

All of it. TriStar Visuals Photography works with everything from youth and rec league teams through high school and now college programs, including Mercer University and Dalton State College.

What areas do you cover for sports photography?

TriStar Visuals Photography covers Chattanooga, North Georgia, and East Tennessee, including cities like Cleveland, Farragut, and Knoxville, plus travel for team and program work beyond that footprint.

Do you shoot senior night and athlete recognition photos?

Yes. Senior night and athlete recognition photography is a natural extension of what TriStar Visuals Photography already does at the intersection of sports and senior work, whether that's a dedicated senior athlete portrait, a moment captured during the recognition ceremony, or both. Reach out with what your program has planned and we'll build it into your season coverage.

Do you offer game-day action photography in addition to team picture day?

Yes. Game-day action photography is offered alongside team picture day, not instead of it. TriStar Visuals Photography shoots with the same kind of professional, long lenses you'd see on an NFL sideline, so your athletes look next-level in every frame, whether posed or mid-play.

Can you photograph travel ball and club teams outside of school-organized sports?

Yes. TriStar Visuals Photography works with travel ball and club teams just as much as school programs, from a single team's season to ongoing coverage year after year. We also partner directly with tournament organizers to shoot area tournaments, giving event organizers an added service on top of what they're already offering their teams.

General FAQs

How far in advance should I book with TriStar Visuals?

The earlier the better, across the board. This is especially true for team sports and school sports, where photo day and media day windows cluster around specific points in the season and fill up fast. Reach out as soon as your program's schedule is set to lock in your date.

What forms of payment do you accept?

TriStar Visuals Photography accepts all major credit cards, bank draft, PayPal, Venmo, cash, and check.

Can you shoot on school property, and do you carry liability insurance?

Yes to both. TriStar Visuals Photography carries $1,000,000 in liability insurance and can provide a certificate of insurance naming your school as an additional insured. A clear background check is also available if your school or program requires one.

What makes TriStar Visuals different from other Chattanooga photographers?

TriStar Visuals Photography is built around cinematic, story-driven senior portraits, and what sets that apart is the intersection few local photographers share: the same eye behind those senior sessions also works at the highest level of athletic photography. That background means your senior session comes from someone who knows how to direct real moments under pressure, not just pose you for a camera. The result is bold and authentic, never soft or generic, and every client is treated as a relationship, not a one-time transaction.

Do you offer online galleries and digital ordering for teams and families?

Yes. Online galleries and digital ordering mean no paper order forms, no handwriting to decipher, no sending a check in with your child and hoping it makes it where it needs to go. You see every photo before you buy, so you know you love it before it comes home.

What areas does TriStar Visuals serve?

Based in the Chattanooga and North Georgia area, TriStar Visuals Photography serves clients across North Georgia, Chattanooga, and East Tennessee, with travel available for the right project.
