I’m not here to just take your picture. I’m here to tell your story.
Whether you’re an athlete, performer, musician, or just finally owning “your thing,” I focus on capturing your personality, energy, and the passion behind everything you do in bold, magazine-worthy photos.
Some locations just have a story built into the walls. The Read House in Chattanooga is one of them.
Opened in 1926, the Read House has been one of Chattanooga’s most iconic addresses for a century: warm wood paneling, gold-lit library shelves lined with antique books, marble floors, and a vintage telephone room that looks like it was designed specifically for senior portraits. When I brought Alauna, a rising senior at Dalton High School, through those doors, I knew we weren’t just shooting portraits. We were making images.

Alauna is a competition cheerleader at DHS, which means she already knows how to command a space. That translated immediately in front of the camera. We opened the session in the hotel’s library, where the amber glow of backlit shelves and the warmth of aged leather and gold created a mood you simply cannot manufacture. Alauna in a sleek black dress against that backdrop, editorial from frame one.

From there, we moved through the hotel working every corner it had to offer. The velvet chaise in front of those floor-to-ceiling wood-paneled doors. The grand staircase, where a silver-blue satin gown caught the light in a way that stopped the session coldin the best possible way). And then the telephone room, which has to be one of the most unique portrait spots in all of Chattanooga. Alauna stood confidently, framed by that original “TELEPHONES” marquee, hands on her hips, owning every inch of the frame. That image says everything you need to know about her.

The final look, a full-length satin gown in the telephone booths with an actual vintage handset, was the kind of shot that only happens when the location, the subject, and the moment all line up at once.

This is what I love about stepping outside the traditional senior portrait playbook. A park is beautiful. A field at golden hour is beautiful. But placing a senior inside a space with genuine history and architecture behind it changes the entire feel of the gallery. Alauna’s portraits don’t look like anyone else’s from the Class of 2027, and that’s the point.
